Composing Modelling Solutions Workshop

September 10, 2015 @ 09:30 - September 11, 2015 @ 18:00
CREA, Via di Corticella 133
Bologna, Italy
+ Google Map

Summary & Agenda During the workshop of May 2015 the participants have started developing the “plant” component of their model. Then, experiments were made with a simple code project of a model runner, linking together weather, agro- management, and the newly built components. During this workshop, the tool for composition was utilized, moving toward building modelling solutions which are loadable and usable in BioMA-Site and BioMA-Spatial. Goal To develop a first version of the project for the specific modelling solutions (CropSyst,…

Approaching BioMA-Spatial

November 2, 2015 @ 10:00 - 17:30
CREA, Via del Caravita 7/A
Rome, Roma 00186 Italy
+ Google Map

The MODEXTREME approach is to reuse several modelling solutions "as they are", and extend them with new models to account for extreme events. This can be achieved, avoiding duplication, by implementing modelling solutions at fine granularity in the same platform, in this case BioMA. This training was an ancillary event to the 2nd MODEXTREME Annual Meeting and provided with a detailed training on BioMA platform. Summary & Agenda BioMA-Spatial is one of the BioMA applications, and it allows running modelling solutions…

FAO Headquarter, Viale delle Terme di Caracalla
Rome, Roma 00153 Italy
+ Google Map

The second Science Workshop of MODEXTREME, “Modelling the impacts of extreme climatic events on agrifood systems”, was hosted by FAO (FAO Headquarters/Austria Room), in the frame of the second Annual MODEXTREME Meeting. Contact: Hideki Kanamaru, (Hideki.Kanamaru@fao.org); Migena Cumani (Migena.Cumani@fao.org) Description of the workshop (topics and goals) Extreme weather events such as drought and heat waves events endanger food security. A contemporary challenge is to examine if, how and to which extent modelling practices as currently undertaken in most real situations,…

BioMA-Spatial application at WP4 areas

March 1, 2016 @ 08:00 - March 4, 2016 @ 13:00
CREA, Via di Corticella 133
Bologna, Italy
+ Google Map

Summary & Agenda BioMA-Spatial is one of the BioMA applications, and it allows running modelling solutions against explicit spatial units. The modelling solutions which can be run in this application are the same which can be run using BioMA-Site. After modelling solution evaluation using BioMA-Site, WP4 partners are requested to run the modelling solutions against a sample of weather for current condition and future climate scenarios. BioMA-Spatial is an articulated application, and its use requires some training. After the first…

The third Science Workshop of MODEXTREME took place in Tolouse (France), in the frame of  8th Biennial Congress of the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society (iEMSs 2016). This crop modelling hacking event aimed to focus on the code of different crop models and to investigate (a) how similar model implementations are (or not), and (b) how to enable multi-model runs. No presentations were involved, and model developers were invited to attend possibly bringing UML models of the architecture they use. The intention was to…
